Only 79 cases made. Nils Venge's Reserve Cabernet is an iconic must-have from Napa Valley. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, barreled 24 months in 100% French oak, and held in bottle for another 24 to rest before release. This is a rare and rewarding vintage, complementary to dining and friendly to the palate with smooth, balanced dark berry flavors. Phenomenal finish.
Double trouble when you show up with this magnum of premium Napa Valley Cabernet. The 2006 vintage marked Nils' 25th Anniversary with Saddleback, and he decided to design a special bottle of Cabernet for the occasion!
Only 70 cases made. This cool-weather year yielded a small crop for Napa Valley Cabernet, so this precious cargo was well-treated in Nils's custom-made American oak/French oak barrels. Composition: 100% Cabernet. Aromas of violets and dark fruit abound; on the palate a brilliant, now silky balance of minerality, deep fruit and tannin. Finish is clean and lengthy.
By blending Cabernet Franc and a touch of Merlot with only the best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2011 vintage, we created our 30th Anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon. We’ve branded the wine “Nils” to honor Nils Venge’s great dedication to fine winemaking.
So delicately aged in large format. This wine is deeply colored, with heady aromas of dried black cherries, peppery spice rack, and cigar box. Provocative, aromatic layers of rich, velvety tannins produce an intriguing semi-aged palate. Elegantly complements grilled steak, braised short ribs, rack of lamb and aged cheeses such as Maytag blue, triple-cream bries, and Camembert.
Established in 1981, Saddleback Cellars marked its 30th Anniversary in 2011. Instead of celebrating that year, we decided to put the party in the bottle.
