2016 Dolcetto, Russian River Valley
A luscious Italian varietal gets the Saddleback treatment
The Italian word Dolcetto means ‘little sweet one’, but it is not certain that the name originally carried any reference to the grape’s sugar level; it is more likely derived from the name of the hills where the vine is cultivated. Our Dolcetto shows a dark hue in the glass that nods to prozed purity of flavor. Aromas of blackberry, cinnamon, graphite and cut grass. The light, graceful tannins give way to soft flavors of candied walnuts, ripe red apple and caramelized brown sugar. With a light-medium body, it’s an obvious go-to red for any occasion.
