1999 Chardonnay

The 1999 vintage is a crisp and fresh treat from start to finish. There are bright notes of lemon and mango with undertones of pink grapefruit. This wine is creamy from extended lees contact, without being overly buttery or oaky. A perfect match for light summer fare and beautiful sunsets.

Certainly the richest and most drama6c Saddleback Chardonnay produced to date. Prominent toasty, leesy, vanilla aromas jump from the glass... Very complex, round and fleshy considering this was produced without malolactic fermentation. A surprising release...

Chardonnay Wine Information

Our first vintage of Chardonnay dates way back to 1983 from vines planted on our estate that were then just three years old; subsequently, more were added in 1990 when we T-budded a few rows over from Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chardonnay on the estate is planted with 7x12 bilateral cordon and dry farmed. Chardonnay now totals 2.9 acres of the 14.8 acres planted on our estate. Today, we enhance our Oakville estate with a small amount of fruit sourced from The Garvey Vineyard in St. Helena, located on East Zinfandel Lane.
